The most searched-for destinations on Thomas Cook’s website on Christmas Day and Boxing Day were Spain and Greece, the company has revealed.

Greece was the number one single destination that holidaymakers typed into Cook’s search engine on the two festive days – traditionally popular holiday planning dates.

But although 17% of searchers on thomascook.com looked for Greece, the Canaries, Balearics and mainland Spain were second, third and fourth in the search data – meaning that, together, the Spanish regions accounted for 36% of the searches.

Turkey was fifth in the results and the USA sixth.

The results also show a trend towards holidaymakers booking all-inclusive in 2017, which Cook says it first noticed back in October. That includes Greece and the Canaries, neither of which are traditionally recognised for their all-inclusive offering. In response to demand, Thomas Cook has increased its all-inclusive offering by 20% for summer 2017 (excluding Turkey, Egypt and Tunisia).

The company is focussing its peaks campaign – You want, We do – on its personalised and individualised approach to holidays.
