A smart phone app has been designed to make more frequent fliers get out of the lounge or departure gate and into duty free.

Instamiles sets its users photo missions, through which they are challenged to take pictures of brands that are partnered with the app, in return for Air Miles.

They don’t have to buy anything, but brands could push exclusive discounts for specific purchases after the mission.

Cash ‘refunds’ – which amount to a discount – are sent to shoppers’ bank accounts retrospectively if they take a picture of their receipt.

Products range from fragrances and cosmetics to fine food, confectionary and luxury products.

It is powered by Mangopay and Alipay and has signed up more than 100 airport partners since April 2016.
