Travelodge is planning a website redesign and will appoint a new design agency by the end of this month.

The new-look website will be introduced by the end of the first quarter of 2008, and will potentially enable consumers to package trips using coach and rail companies.

Some 85% of the group’s bookings come via the web, but chief operating officer Guy Parsons said Travelodge wants to offer more services on the Internet.

“We are the most successful hotel website in terms of volume of business, and we’re number four overall, but we know we can make it more interesting and user-friendly.”

Travelodge recently launched an online insurance service as well as a facility enabling guests to book their breakfast online.

Parsons added: “The huge take-up leads us to believe there are more elements we can add. People have such trust in the brand that they will buy other products from us as long as it’s easy.”

He said the plan was to provide people with more information on destinations and possibly offer them a facility to create a package.

The budget hotel chain is also in the process of rolling out a new look and new restaurant concept.
