Simon Powell invests in Cardiff digital creative agency

Comtec chairman Simon Powell has invested in Cardiff based digital agency Sequence that will bring front-end creativity to the travel technology specialist.

Powell will become the agency’s chairman of the board as part of the deal for the firm that has worked on websites for VisitBritain and VisitWales.

In an announcement about the investment Sequence said the agreement “concludes a period of uncertainty for one of Wales’ longest standing digital agencies”.

The firm’s thirty-plus management and production teams will remain based at its headquarters in Cardiff’s creative hub GloWorks.

Powell said: “We’ve recognised the high calibre of creative and technical output that Sequence produces as an agency.

“Their strategic vision, depth of experience and complimentary offering with our other ventures made it an easy decision to invest in Sequence.

“Sequence’s recent creative projects for travel and tourism clients such as VisitBritain, Natural World Safaris and Visit Wales, along with other high-profile e-commerce clients such as Pinewood Studios, The Royal Mint and YPO, demonstrates their ability to attract and retain key market players like no other in Wales.”

Richard Baker, managing director of Sequence said: “Bringing Simon into the business was an obvious choice.

“His support will allow us to secure the long-term position and future of the agency, and significantly accelerate our digital tourism and destination commerce offering.

“We’ll look to use this strategic investment as a platform to develop services for our clients, invest in our team, and help maintain our position as one of Wales’ leading digital agencies.“

“This is an exciting time for everyone involved with Sequence.”
