Hostmaker names former Travelport strategy boss as chief operating officer

Former Travelport commercial strategy chief James Lemon has been named as chief operating officer of VC-backed homestay management firm Hostmaker.

He previously worked as global strategy and corporate development director at InterContinental Hotels Group.

Technology-driven property management company Hostmaker recently launched in Cannes, Florence and Madrid, building on a portfolio covering London, Barcelona, Rome, Paris and Lisbon.

It boasts the largest VC-backed homestay hospitality management team in Europe and has received £25 million investment to date.

Lemon is joining the company to support its rapid growth and operational scaling.

He said: “I’m excited to join Hostmaker to help the team deliver on their expansion plans in 2018 and for the long term.

“The company has experienced incredible growth in the last 12 months, in an exciting travel segment, and it is great to join such a dynamic team, working across existing and future international offices to further develop the Hostmaker brand and presence.”

Founder and chief executive Nakul Sharma added: “We’re thrilled to have James join the team. His impressive wealth of experience with premium brands plus global hospitality and technology businesses will enable us to continue to accelerate our growth and support our ambitious expansion plans this year and beyond.”
