A ‘booking heroes’ competition created by Booking.com will recognise exceptional personal contributions of workers in the global hospitality industry.

Customers of the online booking site are being asked to to share their stories on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter using the #BookingHero hashtag.

The company will then choose the three most exceptional stories of accommodation partners going above and beyond the call of duty to create “unique and outstanding” experiences for travellers.

One person and the customer who nominated them will each win €25,000 to spend on Booking.com with the two runners-up and their nominating customers each winning €5,000 in travel credit.

Nominations for the #BookingHero competition on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are being accepted until the end of the month, with the winners announced in January.

Global director of partner services Peter Verhoeven said: “In the run-up to our annual guest review awards, which recognise properties for the outstanding guest experiences they provide, we also want to honour the actual individual people behind the scenes who make the magic happen day in and day out – the unsung hospitality heroes.

“It’s our partners that deliver these extraordinary travel experiences each and every day.

“This is our way to say thank you to them and to share their inspiring stories with the world.”
