European OTA giant eDreams ODIGEO has begun a technology talent recruitment drive to fill over one hundred roles at its hubs in coming weeks.
The firm, which claims to be Europe’s largest online travel company and number two for flights globally, says the new employees will bolster its technology and product teams.
The Opodo parent said it has plans to further develop its “industry-leading technology and create an even better, more personalised, customer experience through the use of cutting edge artificial intelligence and a more diverse range of travel products”.
The majority of the new roles are in eDreams ODIGEO technology hubs in Porto, Barcelona, Madrid and Milan.
Gerrit Goedkoop, chief operating officer, said: “At the heart of our success are the talented people that work here.
“It is their expertise and effort that drives our technological innovation and allows us to continually set the bar higher in terms of customer experience.
“Our mission is to raise that bar again and again and to do that in a rapidly changing world we need the best talent.
“The travel industry is a €1 trillion market, one of the largest industries in the world and the largest e-commerce segment.
“We are proud to be leading this industry and to be transforming it through our innovative products and services.
“We are 100% committed to developing the people that make our businesses a success. We want to help them unlock their talents and use their unique skills to help the 17 million people that every year choose eDreams ODIGEO’s online platforms to discover the world.
“Our commitment to our staff is embodied in our industry-first flexible working system that combines office and remote work, enabling our teams to deliver while providing comfortable and convenient environments to connect and collaborate, on and offline.
“After exceptional growth in trading over the last months now we are thrilled to grow the eDreams ODIGEO family to continue innovating and reinventing travel.”
The recruitment drive comes after positive recent eDreams ODIGEO’s trading updates which have reported a recovery to beyond pre-pandemic levels and market share increases.
The firm said: “Despite some travel restrictions still being in place, eDreams ODIGEO has continued to outperform its peers and in the months of June, July and August Bookings have largely surpassed pre-COVID levels.
“As a leading company in the travel tech sector, eDreams ODIGEO is constantly exploring ways to innovate and offer its customers unique and exciting products.”
Its new Prime personalised travel subscription service recently exceeded the 1.5 million members milestone and the firm said is “representative of the kind of innovative products that the company is focused on developing through tech innovation in the travel sector”.
The firm recently implemented a new hybrid working policy aimed at driving further flexibility and employee creativity in a post-pandemic environment, describing it as an “industry first”.
