Travel Up adds to portfolio of OTAs with second acquisition in a month

The new owner of the Bookable Holidays brand has made its second acquisition in the space of a month with the purchase of Holiday Genie parent Flying Eagles Ltd.

The new owner of the Bookable Holidays brand has made its second acquisition in the space of a month with the purchase of Holiday Genie parent Flying Eagles Ltd.

Travel Up Group announced the acquisition of Flying Eagles, which operates a number of websites including flyingeagles.co.uk and holidaygenie.com, for an undisclosed sum.

Managing director of Holidaygenie.com, Faisal Butt, will remain in his current capacity in addition to joining the Travel Up Group board.

Ali Shah, managing director of Travel Up Group, said: “The acquisition of Holidaygenie.com will add to the extensive knowledge and product already in place within the Travel Up Group.

“We are excited and honoured to welcome the incredible team at  Holidaygenie.com into the Group. They are experts in their field and will complement the existing brands perfectly.”

Travel Up Group has become established over the last 10 years in the seat-only sector, supplying airfares to more than 290,000 passengers annually.

In 2011 Bravo Travel, which offers holidays in Latin America, joined the group.

Magic Holidays was launched in January 2014 with a focus on offering bespoke holidays to Florida and other parts of the US.

Last month, it announced the acquisition of the assets of Bookable Holidays after the OTA’s collapse in October, and set up a joint call centre while taking on key Bookable personnel including director Craig Ashford, who became Travel Up’s head of group sales and marketing.
