Applications for Google Glass and other next generation wearable technology in the luxury travel sector will be showcased at the first Connections event.

The international event, a recent addition to Travolution parent Travel Weekly Group’s portfolio, will take place at the Four Seasons Hotel on September 29-30.

Touted as ‘The Next Generation of Events’, Connections Luxury will bring together just 60 handpicked international delegates for one-to-one meetings, networking experiences and business sessions.

Among the speakers lined up is Ewan MacLeod, entrepreneur and founder of Mobile Industry Review.

He said: “I’m aiming to give the buyers a really good overview of what’s happening in travel technology, with a huge focus on luxury.

“So, for instance, I’ll be focusing on the front-end consumer stuff such as mobile concierge, mobile ordering, pre-arrival room service and so on.”

MacLeod said he is constantly on the look out for the best examples of the application of technology and wants to hear from any company that has anything that is cutting edge, particularly from smaller start-ups.

Also lined up to speak at Connections Luxury is former creative director of Apple Ken Segall, the man credited with the Think Differently campaign and also introduced the well-known ‘i’ tag which has become synonymous with Apple products.

Segall was creative director at the technology giant for 12 years, working alongside Steve Jobs during his second spell as chief executive.

Micaela Giacobbe-Juarez, Travel Weekly Group director of commercial events, said: “Connections has been created to establish and facilitate long-term business relationships from memorable experiences, and I have no doubt that our guest speakers will prove to be both thought-provoking and inspiring.”
