Dutch tour operator Euro Relais is to make a major assault on the UK market in 2006 as it looks to extend its strong position in the Benelux markets and elsewhere around Europe.

The company currently handles trips to around 6,000 holiday homes and centres in Europe but is set to make a push into the UK through online travel agents and by partnering existing search websites, such as a deal recently signed with Myvillarenters.com.

Euro Relais has credited its switch to online booking in 1999 as a major trigger for its rapid expansion programme in the past five six years, with inventory added in Croatia in 2004 and the appointment of Mark Mesman as the UK’s e-commerce manager last year.

General manager Hedwig Wassing said the company had ambitions to become a leading player in the UK online travel arena.

“Our ambition is to gain a significant market share within the UK; top 5 within the next 3 years,” he said.

“The quality and authenticity of our product offering and the seasoned business model are our cornerstones for success.”

Euro Relais has recently signed deals with affiliate marketing companies Commission Junction and the Online Media Group.

It is also expected to team up with TradeDoubler in the UK in the coming weeks.
