Manchester tops league of shame for cybercrime, claims VPN specialist

Manchester has been named as the Europe’s top city for travellers to become the victims of cybercrime.

The northern city topped a table produced by AnchorFree, which it claims shows how people on the move with mobile devices are increasingly turning to VPN-based security to ward off cyber criminals.

Europe’s second-worst city for cybercrime was Amsterdam, followed by Stockholm, Paris and London.

An infographic produced by AnchorFree claims 300,000 Germans have fallen victim to identity theft over the last three months.

The analysis of VPN use showed people who live in or travel to southern European holiday destinations tend to use it the most.
