Transavia develops two new mobile apps

New mobile applications for iPhone and Android have been introduced by Dutch carrier Transavia.

Developed by mobile solutions provider Mobile Travel Technologies Ltd, the apps enable flight search and booking as well as the ability to add baggage, view promotions, flight offers and manage bookings.

A strong emphasis was placed on ensuring a seamless search and booking flow and comprehensive booking management as part of the development process.

The move comes as the carrier responds to increased mobile internet usage by passengers.

According to Google Travel, flight queries via PC worldwide were static for the first time in the last quarter of 2012, while mobile & tablet flight queries continue to grow. Google predicts that 44% of flight queries will be on mobile throughout 2013.

Transavia chief commercial officer Roy Scheerder said: “As well as enabling flight booking and check-in on selected routes, a key role of the transavia.com apps is to bring an engaging touch-point which provides relevant and real-time information to customers during their journey.

“Already we are seeing great take up in terms of mobile downloads and flight bookings. Additional mobile functionality, such as check-in across all of our routes, is planned for the near future as we continue to improve the apps.”

MTT chief executive Gerry Samuels added: “Transavia has invested in a mobile solution with MTT that has a great user experience and the growth in downloads & mobile flight bookings since launch is testament to this.’
