The Travel Network Group has partnered with its GDS supplier Travelport to create a new mobile app for its members.
A prototype of the iPhone app, which can be white-labelled by members, was mocked up to show delegates in Slovenia.
The app is similar to one Travelport has delivered for Portman Travel, the travel management firm, which allows clients to upload itineraries and access destination information.
Simon Ferguson, Travelport’s managing director for the UK and Ireland, said the app allows agents to communicate with customers post-sale and pre-trip in the mobile environment.
The app enables agents to keep customers informed and also to push out relevant offers such as for restaurants and excursions.
Ferguson told delegates the millennial demographic – the next generation of consumers – will increasingly engage via mobile devices but that agents should not be scared about technology.
“The technology only comes together because of the people behind it,” he said.
