Avis turns to Facebook for ArtCar competition

A Facebook competition has been created for consumers to create a design that will be used by Avis on its rental cars.

A Facebook competition has been created for consumers to create a design that will be used by Avis on its rental cars.

The Avis ArtCar competition will run exclusively through the social network across nine European countries.

Entries will be judged on their creativity by an expert panel, taking into consideration the number of Facebook votes each design has received.

The winning entry will be added to the Avis fleet and people will then be able to win a drive in an Avis ArtCar as part of an ongoing pan-European competition.

Designs need to be created and uploaded onto Facebook before November 14 and participants must then encourage their friends and family to visit the page and vote for their design.

British illustrator Si Scott and French animation expert McBess will be working on their own version of the Avis ArtCar.

The two artists will work on their designs at the same time as the public and a dedicated blog will follow their progress. All three ArtCars will be revealed simultaneously, becoming the Avis ArtCar fleet.

Avis UK commercial director Anthony Ainsworth said: “This is the first time that an international ArtCar has been designed by the public, for the public, so we’re really excited to be instigating the search.

“It demonstrates that the ArtCar movement is not just for artists, but is about the whole public getting involved. Whatever your age, experience and artistic talent, we want to see your designs as it could well become the first ArtCar rental in the world.”
