Sunshine.co.uk founders unveil bookable cruise site

Sunshine.co.uk’s founders have unveiled a cruising website enabling consumers to book a cruise online from start to finish

Sunshine.co.uk’s founders have unveiled a cruising website enabling consumers to book a cruise online from start to finish.

Bonvoyage.co.uk will initially allow cruises from P&O and Cunard to be booked online with Princess, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and MCS Cruises expected to follow in the coming months.

The site, which had been slated for an early 2011 release, enables consumers to view the layout of the ships and choose the cabin they would like to stay in. It has been in development for around two and a half years.

Bonvoyage also features videos of ships, ports and shore excursions and allows for pre and post cruise hotel stays to be booked.

While experts have questioned whether consumers would want to book a cruise fully online, co-founder Chris Brown said the travel industry was now more ‘web-based than ever.’

“I think many cruise sites or lines believed anyone looking to book would need to be taken through the process step-by-step, either over the phone or in person. This isn’t the case. People want to be able to do things themselves without having the process slowed down by having to call and speak to someone,” he said.

The cruise site is the latest in a string of releases from sunshine.co.uk founders which include tenerife.co.uk and familyholidays.co.uk.
