Tonight’s Travolution Awards is all set to be the biggest and most spectacular yet, with more than 520 of the online and mainstream travel industry’s great and good due to attend.

This year the awards has a stunning new venue having moved from the more traditional surrounds of Park Lane to the boiler room in the iconic Battersea Power Station on the south bank of the Thames in London.

A few surprises are planned this evening including the identity of the guest presenter, but the night is all about the 32 award winners who will collect their gongs.

A special accolade will be handed to one of the leading lights in the global online travel market, who will be at the event in person to collect the Travolution Achievement Award.

For the first time the awards has a consumer element after key sponsor Teletext Holidays came on board to run a consumer-voted category.

Interest in the awards, now in its fourth year, has reached unprecedented levels attracting more than 300 entries and strong support from sponsors.

Simon Ferguson, chief executive of Travolution parent TWgroup, said: “The tension is building ahead of tonight’s event and we are really looking forward to seeing everyone at Battersea.

“The level of interest in these awards in what is undeniably a difficult time for the travel sector has been incredible and we are completely sold out, and have actually had to turn people away. We’ll have to find a bigger venue for next year.”

The winners will be revealed on Travolution.co.uk this evening after the end of the ceremony and pictures from the event will be posted online tomorrow.
