Long-haul travel website Tropical Sky is to expand its operations into Africa and has recruited its first commercial director.

Robyn Grieves-Cook will have overall responsibility for sales, marketing and all commercial aspects of the company, including the new Africa section.

Africasky.co.uk will go live on 12 May and follow the existing Tropical Sky model, offering users long haul holidays within a restricted time frame of 12 weeks.

Grieves-Cook joins Tropical Sky after working in Kenya on a variety of travel website projects.

The move to recruit a commercial director and expand the portfolio comes less than a year after the website was launched by managing director Mike Collins, who said: “We are delighted to welcome Robyn on board.

“She joins us with a wealth of experience and will be charged with improving our safari holidays to Kenya as well as bringing online the more specialist areas such as Botswana, Namibia and Tanzania, as well as promoting South Africa to its full potential.”
