The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in early January offered a hint of new technologies which could find their way into travel applications throughout the year.


Among the array of new mobile phones, iPod clones, and super-long battery power for PCs – up to 20 hours, powered by a fuel cell – was a new feature being considered for Microsoft’s XP PC operating system.


Microsoft is said to be working with the Weather Channel in the US to provide location-based weather alerts through Windows MSN Messenger. If you’re going to travel, you can set it up to feed you weather updates from that destination.
