Monarch Airlines is to abandon its existing FlyMonarch.com URL for customers in favour of a new branded website.

The switch to Monarch.co.uk is expected to take place in the coming months after an intensive press and outdoor poster campaign across the UK.

Consumers will be urged to book at the new URL through marketing activity in key cities in the UK, including Birmingham and Manchester as well as near major Monarch hubs at Luton and Gatwick.

The campaign will take place over the next six months and include fares and service level promotion.

A Monarch spokeswoman said: “The site will remain as FlyMonarch.com although the customer facing brand/domain name will change to Monarch.co.uk with a view to migrating to the new domain in the near future.”

London-based agency Greenlight currently handles search engine optimisation work for Monarch.

Last year Middle Eastern airline Gulf Air undertook a similar exercise when it re-branded its online presence from Gulfairco.com to Gulfair.com.
