Sabre has appointed a new country director.
Eric Hallerberg will lead Sabre’s travel marketplace business in the UK and Ireland – the largest in the region.
He replaces Elisabeth Martins who becomes director of business development for online, land and sea, responsible for driving Sabre’s online sales across the European region. Martins has been in the role for five years and previously worked for Galileo and Amadeus.
Hallerberg is tasked with maintaining and growing the company’s customer base, including travel agencies.
He brings more than 11 years of GDS experience to the role having been with Sabre since 2004. Most recently he was regional managing director of global accounts for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
He previously spent six years in Singapore working alongside Abacus, Asia’s leading GDS which Sabre is set to acquire, to drive travel agency growth across the Asia-Pacific region.
“Eric brings deep industry knowledge and a unique combination of global, regional and local UK experience that is well suited to this role,” said Stephane Aita, vice president for Western Europe at Sabre Travel Network.
“He has a keen eye for helping customers spot growth opportunities and achieving success through the use of the latest technology.
“Our customers in the UK and Ireland are among the most sophisticated and tech-savvy, and Eric’s appointment combined with our significant product and technology investments highlight our desire to grow with our customers in this market, and accelerate our already strong presence in these countries.”
“Eric and Elisabeth bring significant experience to these roles and I’m confident their appointments will help drive our ability to grow and serve the needs of our customers in this important region,” said Aita.
Before joining Sabre, Hallerberg was awarded a PhD in economics from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
