Egencia UK’s travel bookings grew by 21% in 2014, according to new figures released by the Expedia business travel arm.

Egencia UK’s travel bookings grew by 21% in 2014, according to new figures released by the Expedia business travel arm.

Worldwide, the company signed $1.2 billion of new business and surpassed the $5 billion gross booking mark last year, a 2.5 fold increase in gross bookings over 2010.

Egencia’s global year-on-year revenue was up 10%, the company claimed revenue grew five times faster than its key competitors.

Egencia UK also signed 150 new customers in the last 12 months

Online booking that mimics the experience of leisure travel sites contributed to the rise, helping clients achieve rapid online adoption of its booking tool.

Leading digital marketing organisation Yell achieved up to 90% online adoption within six months of initiating Egencia services last June.

Egencia also increased customer service staff in the UK by 30%, helping the company achieve customer satisfaction of almost 90% across its UK clients.

Graham Kingsmill, UK managing director, said: “Egencia is growing at an exceptional rate due to the way we are transforming business travel technology.

“With unparalleled insight into emerging travel patterns and our ability to adapt our platforms and service to respond to them quickly, we are well placed to build on this success.”

Catherine Oxley, head of procurement at Yell, said: “Egencia understands our tech savvy employees who are always looking to use the latest technology to optimise their travel and productivity.

“We had over 90% adoption of the Egencia online booking tool among our team.

“Our sales force is quite large and they are encouraged to download the Egencia TripNavigator app onto their mobile devices to make travel easier.”
