World Travel Inc, one of the largest independently-owned travel management companies in the US, has extended a long-term deal to use Travelport technology.

The new agreement extends a relationship between the two that began when World Travel was founded in 1983.

The agreement allows World Travel, based in Exton, Pennsylvania, to continue its adoption and use of the Travelport Smartpoint advanced search and booking platform.

World Travel cited time-savings and the ability to sell fares and promote ancillaries to mid-market company customers among the key benefits of using the system.

World Travel chairman and founder Jim Wells said: “We are pleased to extend our long-term partnership with Travelport.

“Like World Travel, customer service is at the centre of Travelport’s strategy and operations, and this close alignment helps us deliver the best technology and content solutions to make travel simple for our valued clients.

“We believe their leading-edge investments, such as Travelport’s Level 3 NDC certification, will allow us to evolve and grow our customer offerings in the future.”

The travel commerce platform’s vice president and general manager Erika Moore added: “Our relationship with World Travel Inc is a strong testimonial about the overall value and performance Travelport offers to meet the current and future needs of our customers.”
