Superbreak has become one of the first tour operators to be given rights to sell Oyster cards to tourists via its website.

The partnership with Transport for London will allow users to buy a Visitor Oyster Card with £10 of travel automatically loaded onto the card.

VisitLondon.com will also be selling the electronic smart cards. The Oyster system was introduced in 2003 and there are currently ten million in circulation.

Superbreak marketing director Ray Jones said: “This is the first time any prospective visitor to London has been able to buy their Visitor Oyster card from a leading travel operator before they arrive in the capital.

“The card can be bought either on its own or as part of a short break package, making it even easier to visit London.”

Superbreak has also scored a significant goal through the partnership by securing a potential traffic lead with the addition of a button on the VisitLondon website.

Giles Bailey, head of group marketing strategy and integration for TfL, said: “This agreement with Superbreak will give easier access to Oyster to millions of visitors to the capital, so they can take advantage of the same benefits enjoyed by Londoners every day.”
