Bidroom announces new board members to spearhead global growth

Fast-growing online travel community Bidroom has expanded its board of directors.

The hotel booking platform, which was launched in 2014 has added experienced hoteliers and investors Bas Tolmeijer, Francesco Monaco and John Stoffers to its board.

Tolmeijer, Monaco and Stoffers are co-founders of Apollo Hotels, which was successfully sold to the listed Fattal Hotels in the summer.

Tolmeijer has been appointed chief executive, of Bidroom. He said: “From our years of experience in the hotel business, we know how much pressure the OTAs place on the shoulders of hoteliers in the form of obligations, demands and rising commissions.

“We look forward to working with the team to promote the global growth of the Bidroom community, with which we can make a real difference for travellers and hotels.’

Bidroom’s five-member board now comprises Michael Ros, chief operating officer, Casper Knieriem, chief development officer), Stoffers, chief financial officer, Monaco, chief commercial officer and Tolmeijer.

Bidroom said: ‘Because the revolutionary concept is so popular among hoteliers, the number of members of our community has soared.

“Partly through intensive cooperation with credit card company Visa, our company has now become a prominent player on the market and we are ready for the next step.

“By bringing in these professionals, we can further shape our mission to shake up the OTA market and make it fairer.’
