Travel payments firm Ixaris Group’s chief commercial officer Aran Brown is stepping up to become chief executive.

Former group chief executive Alex Mifsud, founder of the business, will remain on the board as chief strategy officer.

The company comprises B2C virtual payments business Entropay and B2B payments platform Ixaris.

The group is chaired by industry veteran and Worldpay founder David Sear, who steered Travelex Business Payments and Skrill to $1 billion exits.

He said: “Amongst all the excitement surrounding new fintech start-ups like Revolut, we’re delighted to appoint Aran as CEO of Ixaris, and know he will continue to turbo-charge our profitable revenue growth as we further enhance the top and bottom line performance of the group.

“Aran has a strong track record of delivering highly profitable growth in payments businesses following successful roles at Skrill, sold to Optimal Payments for €1.2 billion, and Hyperwallet, sold to PayPal for $400 million in June 2018.”

Brown added: “The Ixaris Group has the foundations to revolutionise payments within the travel industry and beyond.

“The group is already serving flagship clients and experienced year-on-year growth of 70% in 2017.

“Having both a B2B and consumer business provides a huge opportunity to become serious challengers in the payments sector, and to be the world’s foremost issuer of virtual pre-paid cards.”
