An almost doubling in searches for Majorca on the evening of ITV2’s Love Island’s launch on Monday was reported by holiday comparison website Travelsupermarket.

The 94% rise in searches for the destination where the Love Island villa is located came as record of more than three million viewers tuned in for the start of the dating show.

The show is expected to last for around eight weeks, highlighting the Balearic island.

A TravelSupermarket spokeswoman said: “Majorca is one of Brits’ most popular destinations for couples, friends, and families too, it has something for everyone. Whether you want beaches and nightlife, or culture and good food, the island caters for all tastes and is well set up to deliver relaxation and fun in equal measure.

“The good news is, demand hasn’t impacted too much on prices and availability so far.

“Deals are available, for departures this month from just £244pp, or for July from £327pp, based on two adults sharing.”
