LA Tourism’s new LA Insider online training portal for agents features virtual reality neighbourhood tours.

The training tool has been designed to help agents sell more holidays to the destination, and was launched to the UK and Ireland this week.

The tourist board is to launch an accompanying app in May.

LA welcomed 370,000 UK travellers in 2017 as 48.3 million tourists descended on the ‘City of Angels’.

The training programme has been developed by TravPRO, which is also behind Visit California’s STAR programme.

As well as virtual reality neighbourhood tours, it will offer agents access to L.A. Tourism’s marketing assets, sales collateral such as factsheets, maps, videos, information on Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

The airport this week added 14 new automating screening lanes (ASLs) at Tom Bradley International Terminal, which it says can increase the number of passengers screened by up to 30% in a “faster, more efficient and less stressful” manner.

LAX now has 27 ASLs in operation, with three more expected to open in terminal 3 later this year.

“We’re proud to launch such an advanced training programme, one that will help our clients discover L.A. like an insider and sell L.A. like an expert,” said Francine Sheridan, Europe and Middle East regional director at L.A. Tourism.

L.A. Insider is currently available in English but is to be rolled out in Spanish, French, German, Korean and Japanese over the coming months.
