A dozen employees at London-based hotel booking engine provider and digital marketing consultancy Avvio have become certified revenue management executives.

The firm announced the member of its e-commerce team have all attained the Certified Revenue Management Executive (CRME) globally recognised qualification.

It said having the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) certification, bolsters its expertise and adds to its Google accreditation.

Frank Reeves, co-founder and chief executive of Avvio, said: “I’m so proud that our team is CRME qualified.

“It is a tremendous skillset to have and we are the only provider to have this. Both Avvio and our hotel clients will benefit hugely from the extra knowledge we are able to share.”

Kate O’Flynn, Avvio e-commerce manager at Avvio, addde: “We are absolutely thrilled. Though with the hard work the team put in, it was never in question.

“We’re able to better align our efforts with the hotels we work with and can offer more in-depth knowledge of the industry to our clients.

“Our conversations are no longer limited to the portion of hotel revenue coming through the booking engine, we can now confidently consult on all business areas.”

The staff underwent six months of intense training and will get a refresher every three years.

Daragh Murphy, E-Commerce manager, said it would give the team a “competitive advantage” and meant they now understood many more issues that hoteliers experience.

He said: “Before the course, I don’t think we fully understood the challenges that hotels faced and I feel that they didn’t want to share these challenges with us because we might not understand.

“I’m hoping this qualification will help us to showcase knowledge of the industry and hopefully work closer with general managers and revenue managers in the various hotels we partner with.

“I also believe it will give us a competitive advantage over our rival marketing agencies.”
Ingunn Hofseth, president and chief executive of HSMAI Region Europe, said: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Avvio.

“This global certification is a great recognition of the determination by Avvio to understand revenue management and to support hoteliers with advice and guidance.”

Avvio’s E-Commerce team helps hotels and other accommodation providers to achieve revenue and profit growth.

It also offers insights into the behaviour of visitors to hotel websites and the booking process and monitors websites and review traffic, conversion rate, booking engine conversion rate, availability and rate effectiveness.
