Barrhead Travel is supporting online growth by investing in new website search technologies to improve the user experience.
The unspecified spend on online search technology follows the Scottish travel group’s takeover by US-based Travel Leaders Group and a planned string of new store openings in key high street locations.
Barrhead Travel will continue to operate independently, while exploring areas for collaboration and co-ordination within Travel Leaders Group and its UK operation.
Barrhead has expanded its web team to develop fresh content and engaging copy as well as investing in web technology.
Developments to the website include enhanced speed of search and instant result-filtering to provide a slicker user experience.
The new search facility will allow customers improved access to dynamically package their holiday online.
Instant filtering enables users to narrow down searches based on multiple criteria including board basis, rating, facilities and budget, with results shown in less than a second.
Chief executive Sharon Munro said: “Investing in online technology and rich, engaging content is hugely important to our business as more and more consumers start their holiday planning online.
“While we continue to grow our footprint on the high street with bricks and mortar, we recognise that every customer has different booking habits. This is why we are continually striving to offer multi-channel booking options to suit all of our customers’ needs.”
