Airbus has launched a new app aimed for its A380 aircraft, allowing customers to sample augmented and virtual reality on board.

The iflyA380 app, available on Apple’s iOS operating system, is designed to enhance Airbus’ existing iflyA380.com desktop booking assistant.

The aircraft manufacturer says its app offers more choices, features and content and new possibilities to “interact with the A380”, such as looking inside the cockpit, and claims to give app users the power to “design their own experiences”.

Passengers can book A380 flights and get real-time notifications to stay updated with their flight’s departure time.

They can also “explore destinations” based on geolocation and personal interests, discover the cabin in virtual reality and connect to an “immersive in-flight experience” through an augmented reality feature.

“Response to the iflyA380.com website has been fantastic.” said Marc Fontaine, Airbus digital transformation officer. “The iflyA380 app is a new step for Airbus towards offering digital services that directly benefit consumers and allow them to design their own experiences.”
