Former Kuwait Airways chief commercial officer Philip Saunders is joining Travelport.
He has been named as EMEA vice president of air commerce.
Saunders will be responsible for leading the region’s air commerce strategy, partnering with Rabih Saab, who leads agency commerce operations in the region.
The former executive at Air Malta, Caribbean Airlines, Star Alliance, SN Brussels Airlines and British Airways has been tasked with ensuring airline customers have access to Travelport’s travel commerce platform and technology.
Saunders said: “Travelport has demonstrated real leadership and innovation in the industry and is transforming the way air content is being distributed to online and offline travel agencies.
“It is also clearly leading the way in its digital and mobile offering for airlines.
“Having worked in the airline industry for many years, I know and understand how this type of newer, digital technology and thinking can benefit our customers.”
Derek Sharp, air commerce senior vice president and managing director, added: “I would like to welcome Philip to the air commerce business.
